Old Fashioned Christmas
Each December, on the third weekend of the month, we hold a very simple, yet meaningful event we call the Old-Fashioned Christmas. It is a special service to celebrate the Christmas season in the fashion of early German immigrants, with live string music, carols sung by the accompaniment of the historic pump organ, Scripture, history lesson, and the reading of “The Night Before Christmas” for the children. At the conclusion, candles are lit on the decorated 10 foot tall live tree, the Tannenbaum, and Silent Night is sung, both in German and English. Refreshments are then served in the Heritage Barn and our version of a Christkindlemarkt is offered with books, toys, and games for all ages.
This is a free but ticketed event due to the intimate seating inside the Pioneer Church. Tickets may be reserved beginning the Monday after Thanksgiving each year by calling the office at (509)787-4685 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
